2026 Subaru Uncharted Sport Review: More Fun Than the Stat Sheet Admits

The 2026 Subaru Uncharted Sport is a 338 horsepower dual-motor electric SUV with more than 285 miles of estimated range, a NACS port, and a sticker of $39,795, which lands at $41,245 with destination. On paper it looks like a stat eating monster, the car you buy when you do not really care about cars and just want something that fills a spreadsheet. Then you drive it. I could not stop picturing it lowered in World Rally Blue on gold wheels, because this thing is a ton of fun. It scores an 8.0.

How does the Subaru Uncharted drive?

On the road this thing is a dream. It is compliant, it is supple, it is planted, and it is quiet, with dual pane glass up front and single pane in the rear. The thick tires do a real job on ride quality, and there is plenty of power. Over 300 horsepower in something this size feels super duper quick, and the chassis is happy to use it. On paper this is an appliance. From the driver’s seat it is a hot hatch wearing hiking boots.

Is the Uncharted good looking?

I love the look of this thing. It is sharp, and I think it looks a little better than its Toyota C-HR counterpart, while both are visually impressive. Yes, the sloped back eats a little into trunk space, but what you gain from that look is unmatched. One note on scale: the windshield sits so far away from you that your brain thinks this is a bigger vehicle than it is. It has to recalibrate, because what you are actually driving is something close to a Hyundai Kona in size.

How fast does the Uncharted charge?

It has the NACS port, which is great. Fast charging peaks at 150 kW, which is slow for the class, but the battery is not huge, so a 10 to 80 session still runs about 28 minutes. At home the story flips: the 11 kW onboard charger fills it quicker than plenty of rivals manage on a wallbox. If you charge at home, the slow DC peak barely matters.

What is the interior like?

The front is really, really nice. The seats are comfortable and heated, and the heated steering wheel has an odd shape you get used to quickly. The instrument cluster is set back, which sounds confusing and is not, although shorter drivers may want to check it clears the wheel. The infotainment comes straight out of the Toyota parts bin, and that is a good thing, because as we covered in the WRX review, Subaru’s last-generation units are not good. This one is fine, with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. The two wireless chargers are useless at speed, they just slosh your phone around, but storage is plentiful otherwise. No frunk.

Is the Uncharted good for car seats?

I ran a Maxi-Cosi 360, one of the larger seats out there, and at 6 feet tall I could sit in front of it, barely. Under 6 feet, you sit comfortably in front of one of the biggest car seats on the market. Pick a smaller seat and a bigger adult fits fine. The back seat has vents, the sloped roof trims headroom less than you would fear, and the trunk still swallows a full-size stroller plus the rest of the errand pile. A parent of one or two kids could own this compact SUV with no problem.

Sport vs GT: which Uncharted should you buy?

The GT adds heated rear seats, ventilated fronts, a glass roof, 20s, and Harman Kardon for $4,000 more. You do not need it. You just need the Sport. The Premium is cheaper still, but it is front drive and 221 horsepower, and the whole point of this car is the way the dual-motor version moves.

The take

For $41,245 you would be hard pressed to find a better vehicle at this price, much less an electric one. Compare it to the Chevrolet Bolt RS I ran earlier this year at comparable money, factor in the discounts Subaru EVs tend to carry, and the value case writes itself. It is quicker and better sorted than a Mach-E has any right to make you expect at this price point. And it makes me really excited to try the Trailseeker in a few months.
