Genesis GV90: The 657 HP Electric Flagship With Rolls-Royce Doors
The Genesis GV90 is the brand’s first full-size luxury electric SUV, revealed in August 2026 with 657 horsepower, a 123.5 kWh battery, a claimed 311 miles of range, and an optional coach-door body style with no visible B-pillar. It is the largest vehicle Genesis has ever sold in the United States, it sits above the GV80 and the G90 in the lineup, and Genesis has not yet announced what it costs. That last part decides everything.
Here is what is confirmed, what is still open, and where the GV90 has to land on price to matter.

What is the Genesis GV90?
The Genesis GV90 is a full-size, three-row electric luxury SUV and the new flagship of the Genesis lineup. It was previewed by the Genesis Neolun concept shown in 2024, and the production car follows that concept far more closely than the industry norm.
It rides on a Genesis-exclusive platform called eMP, short for Electric Mobility Prime, rather than the E-GMP architecture shared across Hyundai and Kia electric vehicles. Genesis says the platform was developed around cabin space, ride comfort and driving performance.
At 208.1 inches long on a 127.8-inch wheelbase, the GV90 is roughly 11 inches longer than a Kia EV9. Its arrival expands the Genesis lineup in the United States to seven vehicles.

How much horsepower does the Genesis GV90 have?
The Genesis GV90 produces 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from a dual-motor setup, with one motor on each axle. For reference, that is more power than a Ferrari Enzo made.
The hardware list is unusually complete for the segment. Both axles get electronically controlled limited-slip differentials. Multi-chamber air suspension is standard. Rear-wheel steering is included, which matters on a vehicle this long. Braking comes from four-piston calipers.
What is the Genesis GV90’s range?
Genesis claims approximately 311 miles, or 500 km, for the seven-seat GV90. That number comes from internal testing rather than an EPA rating, so treat it as a target until the official figure is published.
Charging is where the GV90 looks strongest. On a 350 kW DC fast charger, Genesis says the 123.5 kWh pack goes from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. That is competitive with anything in the class.

What are the GV90 Neolun coach doors?
The range-topping GV90 Neolun replaces the conventional rear doors with rear-hinged coach doors and eliminates the visible B-pillar. Genesis calls the setup the Neolun Arch Gate. It is the same door arrangement found on the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Ferrari Purosangue.
Coach doors usually die somewhere between the concept stage and production, because removing the B-pillar removes structure the car needs to pass crash testing. Genesis engineered around it by integrating high-strength steel beams into the door and body structure, then adding a concealed roll-cage-style arrangement with framing roughly 1.5 times thicker than conventional, plus steel tubing and structural foam.

The rear door also uses a dual-motion hinge that pushes the door outward before it swings, so it can open independently of the front door. You do not have to wait for the person in front to get out first.
The standard GV90 uses conventional swing doors and offers the third row. The coach doors are a Neolun feature, not a GV90 feature.
Do the front seats really swivel 180 degrees?
Yes, on the Neolun. When the vehicle is parked, the motorized front seats rotate a full 180 degrees to face the second row, turning the cabin into a lounge.
There is almost no modern precedent for this in the American market. Front seats that fully face rearward last showed up in things like a 1960s Imperial and a Mercedes camper van.
The rest of the interior escalates from there. A 23.6-inch OLED display sits along the dash and rises 90 mm when parked to expand to 24.6 inches. There is a 25-inch head-up display in place of a conventional gauge cluster, a 25-speaker Bang and Olufsen system, real-glass crystal controls, motorized vents, and seats with 15 air cells and pulse-vibration massage. Acoustic glass is used on every window.
The available four-seat Executive Suite adds real wood flooring, a refrigerator, tables, a partition, and a roof that tints electronically in six zones.

How much will the Genesis GV90 cost?
Genesis has not announced US pricing for the GV90, and that number is the single biggest variable in whether this vehicle succeeds.
Here is the competitive landscape it has to slot into:
| Vehicle | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Rivian R1S | $76,990 |
| Lucid Gravity Touring | $79,900 |
| Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV | $89,950 |
| Cadillac Escalade IQ | $127,000+ |
| Genesis GV90 | Not announced |
If the standard GV90 lands near $100,000, it is an extraordinary amount of luxury SUV for the money and the established German players have a real problem. If it pushes past $120,000, Genesis is no longer selling hardware. It is asking buyers to compare dealer experience, service convenience and resale confidence against a three-pointed star or a Range Rover grille, and that is a fight the badge has not won yet.
The Neolun and the four-seat First Edition can carry more. Those buyers want something the neighbors cannot casually order. The standard GV90 is the one that decides whether this becomes a volume flagship or a halo nobody buys.
Will there be a Genesis GV90 hybrid or plug-in hybrid?
The GV90 launches as an electric vehicle only. Genesis has not confirmed any other powertrain for it.
Korean industry reports have pointed to an extended-range electric variant, an EREV, arriving as soon as 2027. In that configuration the combustion engine acts purely as a generator and never drives the wheels directly. Genesis has not announced it, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed.
What is confirmed is that Genesis has walked back its original plan to go all-electric. The brand’s first hybrid is the GV80 HEV, and a GV70 EREV is in development. The powertrain mix is broadening, which makes an eventual electrified GV90 variant plausible.
It should happen sooner than that. A plug-in hybrid GV90 would be the version most American buyers in this segment actually want, and its absence is the one real hole in the launch lineup. A flagship SUV at this size and price gets used for road trips, towing and airport runs with a full house, and a plug-in hybrid covers the daily commute on electricity while removing every reason to plan a route around a charger.
The counterargument is that Hyundai Motor Group builds better electric vehicles than almost anybody right now. Charging speed, packaging, software and ride quality are all genuine strengths, and the GV90 charging from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes is not a small thing. If any manufacturer has earned the benefit of the doubt on an EV-only flagship, it is this one.
That still leaves buyers without a choice. The GV90 is going up against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the BMW X7, the Range Rover and a gas-powered Escalade, all of which will drive all day and tow without arithmetic. Genesis is betting that the target customer has home charging, other vehicles in the garage and the flexibility to not care. For a large share of six-figure flagship buyers, that bet is probably right. It also leaves a lot of very wealthy people on the table for no reason other than timing.
When does the Genesis GV90 arrive?
The GV90 was revealed in August 2026. Genesis has not published US on-sale timing or pricing. Expect both, along with an EPA range figure, ahead of deliveries.
The MoneyShift Take
The GV90 is the most convincing argument Genesis has made in ten years, and it has almost nothing to do with the spec sheet.
Every manufacturer shows a concept with dramatic doors and a lounge interior. Almost every manufacturer then spends three years sanding it down until the production car is a normal SUV with a nice grille. Genesis showed the Neolun in 2024 and then built it. The doors are real. The swiveling seats are real. The engineering required to delete a B-pillar and still pass crash testing is significant, and Genesis did the work instead of dropping the feature.
That is the story. Not 657 horsepower, which everybody has now. The willingness to ship the hard part.
The one thing holding it back is the plug. This should be offered as a plug-in hybrid, and the fact that it is not is frustrating on a vehicle this well executed. Few companies do electric as well as Hyundai Motor Group does, and the charging numbers back that up, so this is not a case of a manufacturer overreaching on technology it has not earned. It is a case of a flagship arriving without the version a lot of its buyers would pick.
Give the GV90 a plug-in hybrid option and it is the most complete luxury SUV proposition on the market at anything close to its likely price. Without one, Genesis is asking a segment full of people who tow and road trip to change how they plan a weekend.
We have not driven the GV90, so there is no MoneyShift Rating on this one yet. That comes after seat time.
Genesis GV90 FAQ
Is the Genesis GV90 electric only?
Yes. The GV90 launches as a battery electric vehicle. Reports point to an extended-range version in 2027, but Genesis has not confirmed it.
Is there a plug-in hybrid Genesis GV90?
No. Genesis has not announced a plug-in hybrid GV90, and no PHEV variant exists in the launch lineup. Genesis is broadening its powertrain mix with the GV80 hybrid and a GV70 extended-range model, so an electrified GV90 variant is plausible but unconfirmed.
